Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit UG?
UAE ordinary passport holders can enter Uganda visa-free for up to 90 days. A bilateral visa-waiver agreement took effect on 10 February 2026, covering UAE diplomatic, special, ordinary and service passports. No eVisa or visa-on-arrival is required for short tourist visits. As of 10 February 2026, holders of an ordinary United Arab Emirates passport do not need a visa to enter Uganda for tourism or short visits. Uganda and the UAE signed a bilateral visa-waiver agreement on 7 May 2025 that entered into force on 10 February 2026. The waiver exempts UAE nationals holding diplomatic, special, ordinary and service passports from Uganda's visa requirement for stays of up to 90 days. This is broader than the reciprocal portion of the deal, which only exempts Ugandan diplomatic and service passport holders for travel to the UAE; ordinary Ugandan passport holders still need a UAE visa. For UAE travelers, no eVisa application or visa-on-arrival is needed for a short tourist stay. Travelers must still meet standard entry conditions: a passport valid for at least six months with blank pages, a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate (Uganda is a yellow-fever-endemic country and the certificate is mandatory for all arrivals), and proof of onward or return travel and sufficient funds may be requested at the border. Those intending to stay longer than 90 days, work, or study would still need to apply for the appropriate visa or permit through Uganda's official electronic system at visas.immigration.go.ug.
