Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit QA?
UAE ordinary passport holders are GCC nationals and do not need a visa to enter Qatar. They enjoy GCC freedom of movement and can enter for tourism or short visits using a valid UAE passport or even a UAE national ID card, with no visa, fee, or prior application. As a fellow Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member state, the United Arab Emirates is one of five countries (alongside Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia) whose citizens enjoy full freedom of movement into Qatar. Visit Qatar, the official tourism authority, states plainly that nationals of GCC countries do not require a visa to enter Qatar. Emirati citizens may cross the land border or arrive by air and be admitted with no visa, no fee and no advance paperwork. Uniquely, GCC citizens are not even required to present a passport: a valid GCC (UAE) national identity card is accepted as a travel document for intra-GCC movement, including entry to Qatar. GCC nationals also have the right to live and work in Qatar, so there is no fixed tourist stay cap in the way that applies to ordinary foreign visitors. Important distinction: this exemption applies only to UAE citizens (passport/ID holders). Expatriates who merely reside in the UAE on a non-GCC passport are NOT covered and must obtain a Qatari visa (Hayya eVisa, visa on arrival, or under Qatar's separate visa-free list, depending on nationality). This guidance is for genuine UAE nationals holding an ordinary Emirati passport.
