Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit OM?
UAE ordinary passport holders (Emirati citizens) do NOT need a visa to enter Oman. As GCC nationals they enjoy visa-free entry for tourism and short stays, and may cross using their national ID card (Emirates ID) instead of a passport. United Arab Emirates citizens are exempt from all visa requirements when entering Oman. The Oman Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Oman Police state that nationals of GCC member states (Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE) do not require visas to enter the Sultanate. Under the GCC common-travel framework, Emirati citizens may enter Oman either by air or via the land border using only their national ID card (Emirates ID); a passport is not strictly required, though carrying a valid passport is advised for flights and as backup identification. There is no fee, no application, and no defined cap on the length of a tourist stay for GCC citizens. This visa exemption applies exclusively to Emirati nationals holding the ordinary UAE passport (or national ID), not to expatriate UAE residents, who must obtain an Oman eVisa. The arrangement is long-standing and remains in force as of 2026; a future unified GCC Grand Tours visa under discussion targets residents/visitors and does not change the existing GCC-national exemption.
