Do UAE passport holders need a visa to visit AZ?
UAE ordinary passport holders can travel to Azerbaijan visa-free for up to 90 days under a mutual visa-waiver agreement in force since 8 July 2023. No e-visa or visa on arrival is needed for short tourist stays. Since 8 July 2023, the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan operate a mutual visa-exemption agreement. Holders of ordinary UAE passports can enter Azerbaijan for tourism or short visits without any visa and stay up to 90 days (three months). This replaced the previous regime under which Emiratis used a paid visa on arrival or ASAN e-visa. The waiver applies to UAE citizens holding ordinary passports; it does not extend to UAE residents who are not citizens (third-country nationals living in the UAE), who must still obtain an ASAN e-visa or a visa on arrival depending on their residence-permit validity. No advance application, fee, or registration is required to enter, though travelers staying long enough may need to observe local residence-registration rules. Passports should be valid for the duration of stay (commonly recommended 3-6 months of validity) with blank pages. Confirmed via the official Azerbaijan tourism portal, the Wikipedia visa-policy summary, and global immigration advisory Fragomen.
