🇿🇦South Africa🇦🇿AzerbaijanZA-AZ South Africa to Azerbaijan visa requirements
South African ordinary passport holders need an e-visa for Azerbaijan. Apply online through the official ASAN Visa portal (evisa.gov.az) before travel; it grants a single-entry, 30-day stay valid for 90 days from issue. As of 2026, South Africa (ordinary passport) is on Azerbaijan's list of countries eligible for the ASAN electronic visa. There is no visa-free entry or visa-on-arrival for South Africans, and the Azerbaijani Embassy in Pretoria stopped issuing visas in 2018, so the e-visa is the only practical route for tourists. Applications are made entirely online at the official portal evisa.gov.az. The standard e-visa is a single-entry permit allowing a stay of up to 30 days, valid for 90 days from the date of issue. The state fee is USD 20 (plus a USD 5 unavoidable service fee), with standard processing in up to 3 working days. An urgent option issues the visa within 3 hours for a higher state fee of USD 50 (plus the USD 5 service fee). The e-visa must be printed and presented with a passport valid at least 6 months beyond the planned departure at the Azerbaijani border checkpoint. Azerbaijan is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply to this route.
