Vietnam to Timor-Leste visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Timor-Leste, but can get a Visa on Arrival (VoA) when entering by air at Dili's Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport or by sea at Dili Seaport. It costs US$30 for a 30-day single-entry stay. Entry at land borders requires a visa arranged in advance. As of 2026, Vietnam is not on Timor-Leste's visa-free list (only ASEAN neighbours Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, plus EU/EFTA, Cape Verde and a few others enjoy visa-free entry). However, Timor-Leste grants a Visa on Arrival to all other nationalities, including Vietnamese citizens, when arriving at Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport (Dili) or Dili Seaport. The VoA is a single-entry tourist visa, valid for a stay of up to 30 days, extendable once in-country for a further 30 days (apply at least 15 days before expiry). The fee is US$30, payable in US dollars cash. Travellers must hold a passport valid at least 6 months with a blank visa page, an onward/return ticket, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds. Important: VoA is only available at Dili airport and seaport. Travellers arriving by land (e.g. the Indonesian border) must obtain a visa in advance from a Timor-Leste diplomatic mission, as VoA is not issued at land crossings. There is no e-visa system; the only advance option is an application at an embassy/consulate.
