Vietnam to Moldova visa requirements

A Vietnamese ordinary passport holder needs a visa to enter Moldova for tourism. Vietnam is on Moldova's list of states whose nationals require an invitation and are NOT eligible for the online eVisa, so ordinary travelers must apply for a short-stay Type C visa through a Moldovan consular mission. The only no-visa shortcut is if you already hold a valid (non-transit) Schengen, EU, UK, US, or Canada visa or residence permit, which lets you enter Moldova visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. As of 2026, Moldova maintains a visa requirement for ordinary passport holders of Vietnam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova explicitly lists the "Socialist Republic of Vietnam" among the states whose citizens must present an invitation to obtain an entry visa, and Vietnamese nationals are therefore not eligible for the convenient online eVisa that is open to most other nationalities. (By contrast, holders of Vietnamese diplomatic or official/service passports are visa-exempt for up to 90 days within a 180-day period — but that does not help ordinary tourists.) This means an ordinary Vietnamese tourist must obtain a short-stay Type C visa from a Moldovan diplomatic or consular mission before travel. Because Moldova has no embassy in Vietnam, applications are typically lodged at the Moldovan mission accredited to the region (commonly handled via Beijing, or another nearest mission/VFS arrangement), and the application normally requires a formal invitation/supporting documentation. The Type C visa fee is 40 EUR. Applicants must also show travel medical insurance of at least 30,000 EUR and proof of means of subsistence of at least 30 EUR per day (minimum 300 EUR). Once admitted, the short-stay allowance is up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Important shortcut: Moldova waives its visa for foreigners (including Vietnamese nationals) who hold a valid, non-transit Schengen, EU member-state, United Kingdom, United States, or Canada visa or residence permit. Such travelers may enter Moldova without a Moldovan visa for the period the document is valid, up to 90 days in 180. Moldova is NOT in the Schengen area, so Schengen rules and ETIAS do not apply to entering Moldova itself, though Moldova's own short-stay limit mirrors the 90/180 formula. If you do not hold one of these qualifying visas, a Moldovan visa is mandatory; given the conflicting commercial-site claims that Vietnamese can use the eVisa, the conservative and officially correct verdict is visa-required.
