Vietnam to Kenya visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a Kenya Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before traveling. Kenya abolished traditional tourist visas on 1 January 2024 and now requires nearly all foreign visitors to obtain an eTA online in advance. Vietnam is not on Kenya's eTA-exemption list, so the eTA is mandatory for tourism. Apply at the official portal etakenya.go.ke at least 3 working days before departure. Since 1 January 2024 Kenya replaced its visa regime with a mandatory Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) for almost all foreign nationals. A May 2025 amendment exempted most African nations and a small group of other countries, but Vietnam is not among the exempt nationalities. A Vietnamese ordinary passport holder traveling for tourism must therefore apply for the eTA online before departure. The eTA costs USD 30 (plus any payment-processing charge), is normally issued for single entry, permits a stay of up to 90 days, and is typically processed within about 3 working days. Travelers must hold a passport valid for at least 6 months with a blank page, and provide a photo, itinerary, and proof of accommodation. The eTA is granted electronically and presented (digitally or printed) on arrival; there is no traditional embassy visa process for short tourist stays. Kenya is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
