Vietnam to Iran visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist trips to Iran. Iran grants Vietnam citizens visa-free entry for up to 15 days within any 180-day period, for tourism purposes only. The stay is non-extendable; for longer or non-tourism trips, apply for an Iran eVisa in advance. As of 2026, Iran maintains a unilateral visa-exemption for holders of Vietnamese ordinary passports traveling for tourism. They may enter visa-free and stay up to 15 days within any rolling 180-day window. This exemption is tourism-only and is generally treated as non-extendable, so travelers who want a longer stay (up to 30 days, extendable to 90), business travel, or repeated entries beyond the 15-day/180-day allowance should obtain an Iran electronic visa (eVisa) through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (evisa.mfa.ir) before departure. Iran tourist visas issued via the eVisa system are single-entry, valid up to 90 days for entry, and cost roughly EUR 50-75 in consular fee depending on pickup location, plus any service fee. Iran is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Note an important practical caution: Iran entry stamps can complicate later travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program, and US/UK/Canada nationals face stricter rules (not relevant to Vietnamese passport holders, but worth knowing for dual nationals).
