Do Vietnam passport holders need a visa to visit India?

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need an India e-Visa (electronic visa) for tourism. There is no visa-free entry or visa on arrival — apply online before travel at the official portal indianvisaonline.gov.in. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary Vietnam passport cannot enter India visa-free and are not eligible for visa on arrival. The standard route for tourism is the India e-Tourist Visa (e-Visa), applied for entirely online via the Government of India portal indianvisaonline.gov.in before departure. Vietnam is on the list of e-Visa eligible nationalities. Three e-Tourist variants exist: a 30-day double-entry visa, a 1-year multiple-entry visa (max 180 days per calendar year), and a 5-year multiple-entry visa (max 180 days per calendar year). Applications must be lodged at least 4 days before arrival (recommended 1-2 weeks), and e-Visa holders may only enter through 33 designated airports and 19 seaports, though they may exit from any authorised check post. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months with two blank pages. Fees are charged in USD with a 2.5% bank transaction surcharge; the 30-day fee benefits from a discounted rate (around USD 10) during April-June and a standard rate (around USD 25) the rest of the year. Always apply through the official .gov.in site to avoid third-party markups.
