Vietnam to Guinea-Bissau visa requirements

Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Guinea-Bissau. The recommended channel is the online eVisa (e-Visa de Curta Duracao) obtained before travel via the official RGB portal; a visa on arrival is also possible but requires a pre-arranged authorization letter from the Guinea-Bissau Migration Office. Guinea-Bissau is in West Africa and is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. As of 2026, Vietnam (VN) ordinary passport holders are NOT visa-exempt for Guinea-Bissau (GW). Guinea-Bissau's visa-free list covers only 14 West African states (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo); the CPLP visa waiver that includes Vietnam applies only to diplomatic and service passports, not ordinary passports. Ordinary Vietnamese travelers therefore require a visa, available either as an online eVisa (single-entry, up to 90 days, processed in roughly 72 hours through the official Republica da Guine-Bissau e-visa portal) or as a visa on arrival, which in practice requires obtaining an authorization letter from the Guinea-Bissau Migration Office in advance and printing it before departure. Because the visa-on-arrival route still needs prior paperwork and arrival queues, the eVisa is the more reliable, recommended option. Passports must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival. Guinea-Bissau is a West African nation and is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers should also note yellow fever vaccination is commonly required, and Guinea-Bissau has experienced periods of political instability (notably late 2025), so checking current travel advisories before departure is advised.
