Vietnam to Ethiopia visa requirements
Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa for Ethiopia. The recommended route is the Ethiopia Tourist eVisa, applied for online before travel at the official portal evisa.gov.et. It grants a single entry for a stay of up to 30 days and costs USD 62. Ethiopia is not visa-free for Vietnamese citizens. Since the launch of its all-nationality electronic visa system, Ethiopia issues an online Tourist eVisa (type VT) that is open to citizens of virtually every country, including Vietnam. Vietnamese ordinary passport holders should apply on the official Ethiopian eVisa portal (evisa.gov.et) at least a few days before departure, upload a passport bio-data page and a passport-style photo, pay the fee online, and receive an approval letter by email to print and present on arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. As of August 2024 Ethiopia reduced the 30-day single-entry tourist eVisa fee from USD 82 to USD 62, and it discontinued the 90-day electronic tourist visa, so only the 30-day option is offered to tourists. While a visa-on-arrival channel exists at Addis Ababa for some nationalities, the eVisa is the reliable, recommended path because airlines require a valid visa or approval to board, and securing it in advance avoids the risk of being turned away. The verdict is therefore eVisa.
