Vietnam to Botswana visa requirements
Vietnamese ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Botswana. The most practical option is the Botswana eVisa, applied for online before travel at the official portal evisa.gov.bw. Vietnam is not on Botswana's visa-exempt list (Botswana waives visas mainly for Commonwealth citizens and countries with visa-abolition agreements; Vietnam qualifies for neither). A visa is therefore mandatory for tourism. Since 2023 Botswana has run an electronic visa system at evisa.gov.bw, so Vietnamese travelers can apply entirely online rather than visiting an embassy (there is no resident Botswana embassy in Vietnam). The eVisa tourist category is typically issued as a single-entry visa allowing a stay of up to 30 days, with the visa valid for use within about 3 months of issue. Applicants upload a passport copy valid at least 6 months, passport photos, a cover letter, flight and accommodation bookings, and an itinerary, combined into one PDF for online filing. Official processing is quoted at 7 to 14 days, so apply at least 2-3 weeks before departure. The government fee is modest (around 300 BWP / about USD 30 for single entry). Always carry the approval printout, as it is presented to the immigration officer who grants the actual entry stamp on arrival.
