Do United States passport holders need a visa to visit Hong Kong?

No visa needed. US ordinary passport holders can visit Hong Kong visa-free for up to 90 days for tourism. United States ordinary (regular) passport holders do not need a visa to visit Hong Kong for tourism, business or family visits. They are granted visa-free entry for a stay of up to 90 days per arrival, with the period of stay determined by the immigration officer on arrival. The passport must be valid for at least one month beyond the intended period of stay, and travelers should hold adequate funds and a return or onward ticket. No advance application, eVisa or entry fee is required. Note that this applies only to ordinary passports — holders of U.S. diplomatic passports must obtain a visa in advance. Visa-free status does not permit employment, study or business activities; those require the appropriate visa or entry permit. Stays beyond 90 days require an extension applied for at the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
