Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Ukraine visa requirements

Taiwan ordinary passport holders need an e-Visa to enter Ukraine for tourism. Ukraine resumed its electronic visa system on 19 February 2025, and Taiwan is on the eligible list. A single-entry tourist e-Visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and costs USD 20 (standard, 3 business days) — apply online before travel. Note: Ukraine remains an active war zone, and most governments strongly advise against all travel. A Taiwan (ROC) ordinary passport holder cannot enter Ukraine visa-free. Ukraine grants visa-free access to many partners (EU/Schengen states, Japan, South Korea, Canada, the US and others) but Taiwan is not among them. Instead, Taiwan is included in Ukraine's e-Visa program, which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine relaunched on 19 February 2025 after suspending it in 2022. Eligible travelers apply through the official MFA web platform (evisa.mfa.gov.ua), upload a passport scan and supporting documents, pay the consular fee online by card, and receive a PDF e-Visa by email. The short-stay tourist e-Visa is issued for single or double entry, valid for entry within a set window, and permits a stay of up to 30 days. Standard service is USD 20 (single entry) / USD 30 (double entry) with a 3-business-day processing time; an expedited 1-business-day option costs double (USD 40 / USD 60). Travelers must present the printed e-Visa plus their passport to the State Border Guard Service on arrival, and Ukraine requires valid travel medical insurance covering the territory of Ukraine. Ukraine is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. IMPORTANT SAFETY CAVEAT: Russia's full-scale invasion is ongoing as of mid-2026; martial law and a nationwide state of war remain in effect, airspace is closed to civilian flights (entry is by land), and most governments — including authorities advising Taiwanese travelers — warn against all travel to Ukraine. The e-Visa being legally available does not mean travel is safe or advisable.

/06 — The risks

Common refusal reasons

by frequency
/01
No visa-free agreement
Taiwan is not on Ukraine's visa-exemption list, so a visa is mandatory; the e-Visa is the available channel.
High
/02
Tourist e-Visa available online
Ukraine reinstated e-Visas on 19 Feb 2025 and includes Taiwan, so most short tourist trips qualify for the e-Visa.
High
/03
Mandatory medical insurance
Ukraine requires travel medical insurance covering its territory; missing or inadequate coverage can block entry.
Medium
/04
Active war and martial law
Civilian airspace is closed and most governments advise against all travel; safety, not the visa, is the main obstacle.
High
/05
Passport validity / blank pages
Insufficient passport validity or no blank pages can cause border refusal.
Low
/07 — On arrival

After you land

/01
Immigration
Keep your passport, visa or exemption proof, return ticket, and accommodation details ready for border inspection.
/02
Customs
Review the destination's customs rules before travel and declare restricted goods or large cash amounts when required.
/03
Connectivity
Check whether airport SIMs, eSIMs, or roaming are the best option for your route before arrival.
