Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Sri Lanka visa requirements

Taiwan ordinary passport holders need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before flying to Sri Lanka. Taiwan is NOT on Sri Lanka's 40-country free-ETA list, so the standard "Other Countries" tourist ETA fee of US$50 applies. It grants a 30-day stay with double entry and must be approved online before departure (on-arrival ETA was abolished on 15 October 2025). As of mid-2026, a short tourist visit to Sri Lanka for a Taiwan (TW) ordinary passport holder requires an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) obtained online before travel. Sri Lanka made the ETA mandatory before departure on 15 October 2025, ending the previous visa/ETA-on-arrival option. In 2025-2026 Sri Lanka rolled out a free 30-day tourist ETA for 40 designated countries (effective 25 May 2026), but Taiwan is not among them, and Taiwan is not a SAARC country. Taiwan therefore falls under the "Other Countries" category, paying the standard tourist ETA processing fee of US$50 for an online application. The tourist ETA permits a stay of up to 30 days from arrival, allows double entry, and the passport must be valid for at least six months. Approval is normally issued by email within 24-72 hours. Travelers should apply only through the official portal eta.gov.lk to avoid third-party markups. Verdict: visa-required via ETA (eta).
