Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) to Iraq visa requirements

Taiwan passport holders need an eVisa to visit Federal Iraq for tourism. Visa-on-arrival was suspended on 1 March 2025, so you must apply online at the official portal (evisa.iq) before you travel. A Taiwan (TW) ordinary passport holder traveling to Iraq (IQ) for a short tourist visit needs an electronic visa (eVisa) obtained in advance. Iraq is not in the Schengen area, so the 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Until early 2025, many nationalities including Taiwan could get a visa on arrival at Baghdad and other airports, but Iraq suspended visa-on-arrival entry effective 1 March 2025 (most likely indefinitely). All affected travelers now must apply for an eVisa through the official government portal at evisa.iq before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa currently costs about USD 159 (this figure includes mandatory health insurance; it was previously USD 75) and typically allows a stay of up to 30 days. Processing is fast - often within 12 to 24 hours - but applicants are advised to apply at least a week before arrival. Important: the eVisa is valid for Federal Iraq. The autonomous Kurdistan Region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok) operates a separate entry system; Taiwan nationals there generally cannot get a free visa on arrival and need a sponsor-based eVisa, though the Federal eVisa is also accepted for entry into the Kurdistan Region. Travelers should be aware that crossing between the Kurdistan Region and Federal Iraq with a Kurdistan-only permit can be restricted, so a Federal eVisa is the safest choice for travel covering both areas.
