Türkiye to North Korea visa requirements

Turkish ordinary passport holders need a visa to visit North Korea. There is no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival channel. The visa is arranged exclusively through a licensed tour operator and issued as a separate tourist card (not stamped in the passport). Note: as of mid-2026 general tourism remains largely suspended for most nationalities. A Turkey (TR) ordinary passport holder traveling to North Korea (DPRK) for tourism must obtain a visa in advance; North Korea grants no visa-free, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival access to Turkish nationals. Independent travel is not permitted: all tourists must book a guided package tour through a travel agency licensed by the State General Bureau of Tourist Guidance, which secures the visa approval from the DPRK Foreign Ministry on the traveler's behalf. The visa is normally issued as a tourist card or on a separate sheet of paper and collected before entry (typically at a pre-tour briefing in China or Russia); no stamp is placed in the passport. Processing usually takes up to about 4 weeks and approval rates are very high once a tour is booked. Important current context: following the COVID-era closure, North Korea only briefly reopened to most foreign tourists in early 2025 before suspending access again; as of June 2026 general tourism is largely closed to all foreign nationals except Russian citizens, with only limited resumption of China-DPRK transport links. Travelers should treat the route as visa-required and confirm whether tours are actually operating for their nationality at the time of travel. South Korean and US passport holders cannot obtain DPRK visas through the normal process.
