Türkiye to China visa requirements

Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Chinese visa for ordinary visits, except for limited 24-hour direct transit. Turkish ordinary passport holders need a Chinese visa for tourism, business visits, family visits, study, work or most other entries. Turkey is not listed in China's unilateral 30-day visa-free program and is not listed among the 240-hour transit-without-visa nationalities. A 24-hour direct transit route may be available to all nationalities, including Turkish travelers, when the traveler holds valid international travel documents and onward tickets and stays within the permitted port/transit area. Ordinary passport visa applications for Turkey are handled through the China Visa Application Service Center in Istanbul. Since 2025-06-30, applicants complete the online form and upload documents for preliminary review first; after the system shows 'Awaiting Passport Submission', they submit the physical passport and documents at the center. The Istanbul fee schedule effective 2026-04-01 lists regular total fees in Turkish lira, including service fee and VAT: TRY 3,635 for a single-entry visa, TRY 4,250 for double entry, TRY 4,860 for multiple entries within half a year, and TRY 6,530 for multiple entries of one year or more. The Istanbul notice says short-term visa applications with stays not exceeding 180 days are exempt from fingerprinting through 2026-12-31; other cases may still require biometrics unless exempt.

/06 — The risks

Common refusal reasons

by frequency
/01
Turkey is not on the 30-day visa-free list
China's unilateral visa-free list does not include Turkey, so ordinary Turkish visitors need a visa unless only using a narrow transit exemption.
High
/02
Wrong application channel
Current official CVASC pages list Istanbul for Turkey regular passport applications; relying on an unofficial Ankara visa-center reference can cause failed submission planning.
Medium
/03
Online review not completed
Since 2025-06-30, applicants must complete online preliminary review before passport submission.
Medium
/04
Document or photo mismatch
Missing purpose-specific support documents, unsigned application pages, or a photo outside the 48 mm x 33 mm / recent-photo rules can delay acceptance.

/07 — On arrival

After you land

/01
Immigration
Use the foreign visitor lanes, keep hotel or invitation details handy, and make sure your entry purpose matches the visa-free category.
/02
Registration
Hotels normally register foreign guests automatically. If staying in a private residence, complete temporary residence registration with local police within 24 hours.
/03
Connectivity
Install maps, translation, and payment apps before travel. Some foreign services may not work reliably without roaming or a compliant VPN.
