Türkiye to Iraq visa requirements

Most adult Turkish ordinary passport holders (ages 15-50) need an eVisa before traveling to federal Iraq for tourism. Apply online at the official evisa.iq portal; the eVisa allows a 30-day stay. Visa-on-arrival was suspended for most nationalities from March 1, 2025. Note two exceptions: Turkish citizens under 15 or over 50 enter visa-free for 30 days, and the Kurdistan Region (Erbil/Sulaymaniyah) still offers visa on arrival to Turkish passport holders. A Turkey ordinary passport holder traveling to Iraq for tourism generally needs an electronic visa (eVisa) for federal (central-government) Iraq. Iraq launched its standard eVisa in 2024 and, effective March 1, 2025, suspended visa-on-arrival for most nationalities, requiring travelers to obtain an eVisa via the official portal (evisa.iq) before arrival. The eVisa is single-entry and permits a stay of up to 30 days. There are two important nuances. First, under a reciprocal arrangement announced in September 2024, Turkish ordinary passport holders aged under 15 or over 50 are exempt and may enter visa-free for up to 30 days; this exemption does NOT cover the main adult tourist demographic (15-50), who must obtain the eVisa. Second, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (entering via Erbil or Sulaymaniyah) maintains a separate immigration regime and continues to grant Turkish citizens visa on arrival (or a Kurdistan eVisa); however, a Kurdistan-only entry does not automatically permit travel into federal Iraq. Because the question concerns a general adult tourist arriving in Iraq, the best single fit is eVisa. Travelers should carry a passport valid at least six months, proof of onward travel, and accommodation details.
