🇮🇹ITALY (SCHENGEN)SG-IT

Do Singapore passport holders need a visa to visit Italy (Schengen)?

Singapore ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Italy for tourism. Italy is in the Schengen Area, and Singapore is a visa-exempt nationality, so you may enter for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. As of 30 May 2026, ETIAS is not yet required (launch expected Q4 2026); you still must meet standard entry conditions. Italy is a member of the Schengen Area, and Singapore holds visa-free status for Schengen short stays. A Singapore ordinary passport holder can travel to Italy for tourism without applying for a visa in advance, staying up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across the entire Schengen Area (not per country). The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the previous 10 years. At the border you may be asked to show proof of accommodation, a return/onward ticket, travel medical insurance, and sufficient funds. The Entry/Exit System (EES) is being rolled out at Schengen external borders, registering biometric data instead of passport stamps. ETIAS, a EUR 20 online travel authorisation, is scheduled to launch in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional grace period afterwards, so it is NOT required as of 30 May 2026. Singaporeans should monitor the official EU ETIAS portal before travelling later in 2026. Working, studying long-term, or staying beyond 90 days requires a national long-stay visa from the Italian Embassy in Singapore.
