Russian Federation to Mongolia visa requirements

Russian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit Mongolia for tourism. Under the 2014 bilateral visa-waiver agreement you may enter visa-free and stay up to 30 days per visit, with a total of no more than 90 days within any 180-day period. Russia and Mongolia have a mutual visa-exemption agreement signed on 3 September 2014, which entered into force on 14 November 2014. Holders of Russian ordinary (international) passports may enter Mongolia without a visa for tourism, transit, business meetings or visiting friends and family. Each visa-free stay is limited to 30 days, and the cumulative stay must not exceed 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. Travelers who intend to stay longer than 30 days, or who plan to study, work or engage in commercial/paid activity, must obtain the appropriate Mongolian visa in advance. No application, fee or pre-registration is required for ordinary visa-free tourist entry; immigration officers may still ask for a passport valid at least 6 months beyond entry, an onward/return ticket, proof of accommodation and sufficient funds. Mongolia is in East/Central Asia and is NOT part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. This arrangement is confirmed as remaining in place through 2026 and beyond for Russian nationals.
