Russian Federation to Ghana visa requirements

Russian ordinary passport holders need a visa for Ghana, and as of 25 May 2026 they apply online through Ghana's official e-Visa portal (evisa.immigration.gov.gh) before travel. Russia is not visa-exempt and is not eligible for visa-on-arrival. The fee-free e-Visa applies only to African passport holders; Russians pay the standard tourist e-Visa fee. Ghana requires Russian (ordinary passport) travelers to hold a visa for tourism. On 25 May 2026 the Ghana Immigration Service, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of the Interior, launched a national e-Visa platform (evisa.immigration.gov.gh) that replaced the old paper/manual process and ended visa-on-arrival for most travelers. Russia does not appear on Ghana's visa-exempt list (ECOWAS, select African Union states, Singapore, Bahamas, Barbados, etc.) nor on the visa-on-arrival list (African Union nationals, Egypt, UAE). The recently announced free e-Visa is limited to African nationals; Russian citizens therefore use the standard tourist e-Visa, which the portal lists at USD 260 for single entry under normal 3-5 business day processing (USD 338 for 48-hour priority, USD 442 for 5-hour express), or USD 468 for multiple entry. The tourist e-Visa sample shows a 30-day stay within roughly a 3-month validity window and single entry as the default. A passport valid at least six months beyond the intended stay, proof of onward/return travel, and yellow fever vaccination are required. Travelers should apply online and receive the digital authorization before departure; embassy/consular paper visas remain an alternative through a Ghanaian mission. Ghana is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
