🇵🇭Philippines🇱🇰Sri LankaPH-LK Philippines to Sri Lanka visa requirements
A Philippine ordinary passport holder needs an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before traveling to Sri Lanka for tourism. The Philippines is NOT among the 40 nationalities granted the free/visa-free ETA from 25 May 2026, so Filipinos pay the standard non-SAARC tourist ETA fee of US$50. The ETA allows a 30-day stay with double entry. Apply online at the official eta.gov.lk portal before departure. As of 1 June 2026, Sri Lanka requires all visitors to hold an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to arrival. In May 2026 Sri Lanka introduced a fee-free ETA for nationals of 40 selected countries, but the Philippines is not on that list (confirmed by the Sri Lanka Department of Immigration & Emigration notice and corroborating reports). Therefore a Philippine ordinary passport holder must obtain a paid Tourist ETA. As a non-SAARC nationality, the online fee is US$50 (roughly US$30 ETA service component plus surcharge per the official chart; on-arrival applications cost more and are discouraged). The Tourist ETA grants a stay of up to 30 days with double-entry validity, and is normally approved within 24-72 hours, sometimes longer. Travelers should carry a passport valid at least 6 months with two blank pages, proof of onward/return ticket, accommodation details, and sufficient funds. Sri Lanka is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Because the Philippines is excluded from the free-visa cohort and a separate authorization is required, the correct verdict is "eta" (a mandatory pre-arrival electronic authorization that carries a fee for Filipinos).
