Norway to China visa requirements

Norwegian ordinary passport holders may enter mainland China visa-free for up to 30 days for eligible short visits until 24:00 on 31 December 2026. Norwegian ordinary passport holders are covered by China's unilateral visa-free policy through 24:00 on 31 December 2026. The Chinese Embassy in Norway and CVASC Oslo state that ordinary Norwegian passport holders travelling to China for business, tourism, family visit, transit, or exchange purposes, with a stay not exceeding 30 days, are eligible for visa-free entry. China NIA's 17 February 2026 list also includes Norway and states that eligible ordinary-passport nationals may enter visa-free for business, tourism, visits to relatives and friends, exchange visits, or transit for up to 30 days; the duration of stay is calculated from 00:00 on the day following the date of entry. Travellers who do not meet those conditions, or who plan to work, study, settle, conduct journalism, or stay beyond 30 days, still need an appropriate Chinese visa. For visa-free entry, use an ordinary Norwegian passport valid at least for the intended stay; carrying return/onward travel, accommodation details, and purpose-of-visit evidence is prudent because border inspection may ask. Since 20 November 2025, foreign travellers may fill in China's arrival card online through official NIA channels free of charge, while paper/on-arrival options remain available. Hotels normally handle temporary accommodation registration; private stays must be registered with local public security within 24 hours. China is outside Schengen, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply.
