Malaysia to South Africa visa requirements

No visa needed. Malaysian ordinary passport holders can visit South Africa visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days per entry. Malaysia is on South Africa's visa-exemption list in the 90-day category, so holders of an ordinary Malaysian passport may travel for tourism or short visits without applying for a visa in advance. On arrival, the immigration officer issues a visitor's entry (visitor's visa on arrival, free of charge) permitting a stay of up to 90 days. South Africa launched an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system in October 2025, but its phased rollout (Phase 2 from late November 2025) currently applies only to ordinary-passport nationals of Mainland China, India, Indonesia and Mexico. Malaysia is NOT yet in the ETA scope, so Malaysian travelers continue to use the existing visa-free arrangement. Travelers must still satisfy general entry conditions: a passport valid at least 30 days beyond the intended departure date with at least two consecutive blank pages, a confirmed return or onward ticket, proof of sufficient funds, and proof of accommodation. Verify status shortly before travel, as the ETA program is expanding to more nationalities through 2026.
