Malaysia to Tajikistan visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for short tourist stays in Tajikistan. They may enter visa-free for up to 30 days under Tajikistan's unilateral visa-free regime (in effect since 1 January 2022). Tajikistan grants Malaysia ordinary passport holders visa-free entry for tourism and short visits of up to 30 days. This is a unilateral visa-free regime introduced by the Government of Tajikistan effective 1 January 2022, originally covering 52 countries and later expanded. No visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required for stays within 30 days. The key conditions are a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay and proof of onward/return travel. Importantly, all visa-free visitors must register with the local immigration authorities (OVIR / Ministry of Internal Affairs) within 10 days of arrival; hotels normally handle this automatically for guests, but travelers staying in private accommodation must register themselves. Travelers who need to stay longer than 30 days (up to 60 days) can instead apply for the Tajikistan e-Visa (single entry approx. US$30, multiple entry approx. US$50) via the official e-Visa portal. A separate GBAO (Gorno-Badakhshan) permit is required to visit the Pamir region and can be added to an e-Visa or obtained locally. For a standard short tourist trip, no visa action is needed before departure.
