Malaysia to Portugal visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders can visit Portugal visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period as a Schengen short stay. No visa is required for tourism. Portugal is part of the Schengen Area, and Malaysia is on the EU list of visa-exempt nationalities for short stays. As an ordinary Malaysian passport holder you may enter Portugal (and the wider Schengen Area) without a visa for tourism, visiting family/friends, or business, for a maximum of 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your intended departure from Schengen and have been issued within the previous 10 years. At the border you may be asked to show proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, and sufficient funds. As of 30 May 2026 the EU's ETIAS travel authorization is NOT yet operational — no application is required or possible. ETIAS is expected to launch in late 2026; once live, Malaysians will need to obtain an approved ETIAS (EUR 7, valid 3 years) before travel. If you plan to stay longer than 90 days, work, study, or settle, you must apply for a national long-stay visa before departure.
