🇲🇾Malaysia🇵🇬Papua New GuineaMY-PG Malaysia to Papua New Guinea visa requirements
Yes, you need a visa, but you can get it online. Malaysian ordinary passport holders are eligible for Papua New Guinea's Easy Visitor Permit (EVP), an eVisa applied for through the ICA portal before travel. It costs USD 50, allows a single entry with a stay of up to 60 days, and is usually issued in 1-2 days. Malaysia is not on PNG's visa-on-arrival list, so arrange the eVisa before departure. Every traveler must also complete the free PNG Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of arrival. A Malaysia (MY) ordinary passport holder traveling to Papua New Guinea (PG) for tourism requires a visa, obtainable online as an Easy Visitor Permit (EVP) eVisa from the PNG Immigration & Citizenship Authority (ICA). PNG verified that Malaysia is on the EVP-eligible list (it is NOT on the visa-on-arrival list, which is limited to certain Pacific and a few other nationalities such as Australia, the UK, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia). The EVP is a single-entry permit allowing a stay of up to 60 days, costs USD 50, and is typically processed within 1-2 business days. It cannot be extended and does not permit paid work. A paper Visitor Visa can alternatively be lodged at the PNG High Commission in Kuala Lumpur (visa fee waived, but a RM250 service charge applies); the eVisa is faster and recommended for tourism. Separately, since 1 October 2025 all arriving travelers must complete the free PNG Digital Arrival Card (PNGDAC) online within 72 hours before arrival and present the confirmation QR code. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months. Papua New Guinea is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
