Malaysia to Oman visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders can enter Oman visa-free for tourism for up to 14 days. No visa or eVisa is needed in advance for a short visit, provided you hold a passport valid at least 6 months and carry a return ticket, confirmed hotel booking, travel/health insurance and sufficient funds. As of mid-2026, Malaysia is on Oman's "Group 1" list of unconditional visa-exempt nationalities. Malaysian citizens holding an ordinary passport may enter the Sultanate of Oman without any prior visa for tourism or short visits of up to 14 days. This exemption is granted at the port of entry (airport, land border or seaport) at no charge, unlike the "Group 2" list where travellers must also hold a residence permit or visa from the US, UK, Canada, Schengen, Australia or Japan. The 14-day visa-free stay is non-extendable and cannot be converted into any residence visa. Entry conditions, set by Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Oman Police (ROP), require a passport valid for at least six months, a confirmed return/onward ticket, a confirmed hotel reservation, valid health/travel insurance and proof of sufficient funds. Travellers planning to stay longer than 14 days must instead apply in advance for a paid eVisa through the official ROP portal (evisa.rop.gov.om); the 10-day tourist eVisa costs OMR 5 and the 30-day single-entry eVisa costs OMR 20. Oman is not part of the Schengen area, so Schengen/ETIAS rules do not apply. Travellers should always confirm requirements with the ROP or the Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat shortly before departure, as visa rules can change.
