Malaysia to Mongolia visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourist trips to Mongolia of up to 30 days. This is guaranteed by a permanent Malaysia-Mongolia bilateral visa-waiver agreement in force since 6 June 1994 - separate from (and unaffected by) Mongolia's temporary "Years to Visit Mongolia" exemption campaign. A Malaysia ordinary passport holder can enter Mongolia for tourism without a visa and stay up to 30 days, under a bilateral visa-exemption agreement between the two countries that has been in force since 6 June 1994. Because this is a standing reciprocal treaty rather than the temporary "Years to Visit Mongolia" tourism campaign (which covers a separate list of 34 countries on a time-limited basis), Malaysia's 30-day visa-free access remains valid into 2026 and is not affected by the expiry of that promotional scheme at the end of 2025. Travelers simply present a passport valid at least six months beyond arrival, proof of onward or return travel, and proof of sufficient funds, and provide biometric fingerprints at the border. Mongolia is not part of the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The only paperwork to watch for is the foreigner registration requirement: anyone staying in Mongolia for MORE than 30 days must register with the Mongolian Immigration Agency in Ulaanbaatar within 7 days of arrival - so a standard short tourist visit kept within the 30-day window needs no registration. For stays longer than 30 days, a Malaysian traveler would need to apply for an appropriate visa in advance, as the waiver only covers up to 30 days.
