No visa needed. Malaysian ordinary passport holders can visit Ireland visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days. Malaysia is on Ireland's non-visa-required list, so a Malaysian ordinary passport holder needs no visa for a short tourist visit and may stay up to 90 days. Ireland is NOT part of the Schengen Area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and the EU ETIAS scheme do NOT apply to Ireland — a separate Schengen trip is counted independently. Ireland has announced its own Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for visa-exempt nationals, but as of 30 May 2026 it is not yet operational, so no ETA or pre-travel authorisation is required for Malaysians today. On arrival you must satisfy an immigration officer of the purpose and funding of your trip: carry a passport valid for the duration of stay (six months' validity is strongly recommended), proof of onward/return travel, accommodation details, and evidence of sufficient funds. Note that Ireland and the UK form the Common Travel Area but are separate jurisdictions — visa-free entry to Ireland does NOT cover the UK, which now requires a UK ETA for Malaysians.
