Malaysia to Greenland visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for a short tourist visit to Greenland. Because Malaysia is on the Schengen visa-exempt (Annex II) list, Malaysians may enter Greenland visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Greenland is an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark but is NOT part of the EU or the Schengen Area. Its visa policy mirrors the Schengen short-stay exemption list: nationals who are visa-exempt for Schengen short stays (Annex II countries) may enter Greenland without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Malaysia is an Annex II / Schengen visa-exempt country, and Visit Greenland's official page explicitly lists Malaysian citizens among those who do not need a visa. Two critical caveats apply. First, because Greenland is outside Schengen, a Danish or Schengen visa is NOT valid for Greenland, and conversely a Greenland visa is not valid for Schengen — the territories are treated independently even though they share the same exemption list. Second, ETIAS (the EU travel authorisation launching for Schengen) does NOT apply to Greenland; ETIAS only covers the Schengen Area, so Malaysians travelling to Greenland do not need ETIAS for Greenland itself (though they would need it for any Schengen connection/layover once ETIAS is operational). The 90-day allowance is strictly for tourism, family visits and similar non-paid activities — no employment is permitted. A passport valid for the duration of stay (biometric/machine-readable recommended) is required. Most routings to Greenland connect via Copenhagen (Denmark) or Iceland; travellers transiting Schengen should ensure their passport and any future ETIAS requirement for the Schengen leg are in order, separate from the Greenland entry itself.
