The recommended and most reliable channel is the official Ethiopian eVisa, obtained entirely online at the government portal evisa.gov.et before departure. Malaysians can choose a 30-day single-entry tourist eVisa (around USD 62) or, where still offered, a 90-day single-entry option (around USD 152). The eVisa is electronic and single-entry, with validity counting from your intended date of entry, and processing typically takes about 3 business days. A critical condition: eVisa holders must enter Ethiopia through Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) only — land borders and other airports are not accepted for eVisa entry. Malaysia is also technically eligible for a visa on arrival at Bole airport, but pre-arranging the eVisa is strongly recommended to avoid airport queues, payment issues, or being denied boarding.
