Malaysia to Austria visa requirements

Malaysian ordinary passport holders can travel to Austria visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period for tourism. No visa is required as of 30 May 2026. Austria is part of the Schengen Area, and Malaysia is on the EU's list of visa-exempt nationalities. Holders of an ordinary Malaysian passport may enter Austria and the wider Schengen zone without a visa for short stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period for tourism, family visits, or business. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended date of departure and ideally issued within the last 10 years. The 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen countries combined, not per country. Looking ahead, the EU will introduce ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System), a mandatory pre-travel authorisation for visa-exempt travelers including Malaysians, expected to become operational in the last quarter of 2026 with a phased transition into 2027. ETIAS is NOT a visa and is not yet required as of 30 May 2026, but Malaysian travelers should monitor its rollout. Travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel, accommodation, sufficient funds, and travel medical insurance, as border officers may request these on arrival.
