No advance visa needed. Mexican ordinary passport holders enter El Salvador visa-free for tourism, but must buy a US$12 tourist card on arrival, valid for up to 90 days. Mexican ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa to visit El Salvador for tourism. On arrival at the airport or land/sea port, they purchase a Tarjeta de Turismo (tourist card) for US$12, which authorizes a short stay of up to 90 days (extendable, with stays up to 180 days possible depending on passport validity and purpose). Note that Mexico is NOT a member of the Central America-4 (CA-4) agreement, so the tourist card grants entry to El Salvador specifically rather than free movement among Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua; each CA-4 country admits Mexicans visa-free on its own terms. El Salvador is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Travelers should carry a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond entry, proof of onward/return travel, and evidence of sufficient funds. This route is straightforward and the no-visa status has been stable; the only mandatory cost is the US$12 tourist card collected at the border.
