Mexico to Japan visa requirements

Visa-free up to 6 months under reciprocity. Use Visit Japan Web for the immigration/customs QR code. Mexican ordinary passport holders enter Japan visa-free for up to 6 months under Japan's reciprocal visa-exemption arrangement. The usual landing permission is 90 days, but Mexican nationals who wish to stay longer than 90 days must apply for an extension of period of stay at a Regional Immigration Bureau before the original period expires; approval can bring the total temporary-visitor stay to 6 months. This applies to tourism, business meetings, and family visits; paid work, study, journalism, and other resident activities still require the proper visa. Visit Japan Web is the recommended digital pre-registration for immigration and customs, and Japan Customs says the immigration/customs 2D code has been unified through Visit Japan Web since January 25, 2024. Japan's planned JESTA electronic travel authorization is targeted for fiscal year 2028 and is not required in 2026.
