Mexico to Panama visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders do NOT need a visa for tourism in Panama and may stay up to 90 days. Entry is granted on arrival with a passport stamp, provided you carry an onward/return ticket and proof of economic solvency (at least US$500). Mexico is on Panama's visa-exempt list for tourism. Mexican citizens holding an ordinary passport can enter Panama visa-free and receive a tourist entry stamp valid for up to 90 days. No advance visa, eVisa, or visa-on-arrival is required. The passport must be valid for at least 3 months on arrival (many sources recommend 6 months to be safe) and have blank pages. Panamanian immigration is known to enforce supporting-document checks at the border: travelers should be prepared to show a confirmed onward or return ticket, proof of accommodation, and proof of funds of no less than US$500 (cash, traveler's cheques, recent bank/credit card statements). Panama is not in the Schengen area, so Schengen 90/180 and ETIAS rules do not apply. The 90-day limit reflects a policy amendment effective October 2021 that reduced the prior 180-day allowance; the 90-day rule remains current as of mid-2026. Travelers who wish to stay longer can request a tourist extension (prorroga de turista) at the National Migration Service before the permitted stay expires.
