Mexico to Iraq visa requirements

Mexican ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Iraq for tourism. Mexico is NOT on Iraq's 37-country eVisa eligibility list, so the online eVisa cannot be used. You must apply in advance for a consular (paper) tourist visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Mexico City before you travel. As of mid-2026, a Mexican (MX) ordinary passport holder cannot travel to federal Iraq visa-free, and is not eligible for either visa-on-arrival or the electronic visa (eVisa). Iraq launched its eVisa in 2024 and from 1 March 2025 effectively suspended visa-on-arrival for most travelers, channeling eligible nationals into the eVisa. However, the eVisa is restricted to roughly 37 nationalities (mainly EU/EEA, UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, China, Russia, and several Gulf states). Mexico is not on that list. The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Mexico City confirms that Mexican applicants obtain a traditional tourist/visit visa through the embassy, which permits a single entry within three months of issue and a stay of up to one month. The official embassy fee for a tourist/religious visit visa is USD 30, though service providers and embassy administrative costs raise the practical total. Note the separate regime for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), which administers its own entry permits and in some cases offers visa-on-arrival or a region-specific eVisa, valid only within the KRI and not for the rest of Iraq. Travelers should also weigh Iraq's elevated security advisories. Always confirm current requirements directly with the Iraqi Embassy in Mexico City before booking.
