South Korea to Slovakia visa requirements

South Korean ordinary passport holders can visit Slovakia visa-free for up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Slovakia is in the Schengen Area, and South Korea is on the EU visa-exemption list for short stays. Slovakia is a full member of the Schengen Area, and South Korea is on the EU list of visa-exempt third countries. As of 1 June 2026, a South Korean citizen holding an ordinary passport may enter Slovakia and the wider Schengen Area for tourism without any visa for short stays totaling up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. No advance application, fee, or online form is currently required for a short tourist visit. The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the previous ten years. The Schengen 90/180 rule is calculated cumulatively across ALL Schengen countries, not per country, so days spent in any other Schengen state (e.g. Austria, Czechia, Hungary) count toward the same 90-day allowance. A notable upcoming change: the EU's ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is scheduled to begin operations in the last quarter of 2026. Once fully in force, visa-exempt nationals including South Koreans will need an approved ETIAS travel authorisation (EUR 20, valid up to 3 years) before traveling. ETIAS is NOT yet required as of June 2026, and a transitional and grace period will follow its launch before strict enforcement. The separate EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which registers biometric data at the border, is also rolling out but does not change the visa-free status. For now, the correct verdict for a short tourist trip is visa-free.
