South Korea to France visa requirements

Schengen visa-free 90/180 days. EES biometrics are live. ETIAS is not required yet and is expected to start in Q4/end 2026 at EUR 20. South Korean ordinary passport holders enter France visa-free for up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period under the Schengen short-stay rule; EUR-Lex lists South Korea in Annex II of the EU visa-exemption regulation, and Korea MOFA also lists short visits to France within 90 days as visa-free. France is a Schengen Area member, so the 90-day allowance is shared across all Schengen countries. Travellers should use a passport issued less than 10 years before and valid for at least 3 months after the planned departure from the Schengen Area. At the French border, officers may ask for accommodation proof, sufficient funds (France-Visas reference amounts include EUR 65/day with a hotel booking, EUR 120/day without accommodation proof, or EUR 32.50/day with a validated attestation d'accueil), return/onward travel or funds to buy it, trip-purpose evidence, and medical/repatriation insurance. The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) has been fully operational since 10 April 2026 and records short-stay entries/exits electronically with facial image and fingerprint data for non-EU/Schengen nationals, replacing manual passport stamping in practice. ETIAS is not in operation as of 20 June 2026; it is expected to start in the last quarter/end of 2026, direct applications will cost EUR 20 unless fee-exempt, and approved authorisations are expected to be valid for up to 3 years or passport expiry. Visa-free entry does not cover residence, study over 3 months, or ordinary paid work in France; use the relevant French long-stay visa/permit route, with working holiday as a separate long-stay visa for eligible 18-30 year-olds.
