Do South Korea passport holders need a visa to visit SE?
No visa required. South Korean ordinary passport holders can enter Sweden visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. Sweden is a member of the Schengen Area, and South Korea has a visa-waiver agreement with the EU. As of 30 May 2026, holders of an ordinary South Korean passport may travel to Sweden for tourism, business or family visits without a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period. This 90/180 cap is counted across all Schengen states combined, not per country. No application or fee is required before travel today. The main upcoming change is ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System): a mandatory pre-travel online authorisation for visa-exempt nationals, including South Koreans. The EU expects ETIAS to enter operation in the last quarter of 2026 with a transitional grace period, and it is not expected to be mandatory for entry until 2027. Until ETIAS is formally enforced, no authorisation is needed. Travellers should carry a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen Area and proof of funds, accommodation and return travel, which border officers may request.
