🇰🇷SOUTH KOREA
🇵🇹PORTUGAL (SCHENGEN)KR-PT

Do South Korea passport holders need a visa to visit Portugal (Schengen)?

No visa needed. South Korean ordinary passport holders can enter Portugal visa-free for tourism for up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. South Korea is on the EU's visa-exempt list, so holders of an ordinary Korean passport may travel to Portugal — a Schengen member state — for tourism or short visits without a visa. The permitted stay is up to 90 days within any rolling 180-day period, counted cumulatively across all 30 Schengen countries (not per country). At the border you must satisfy standard Schengen entry conditions: a passport valid at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date and issued within the last 10 years, proof of purpose (e.g. hotel booking, return ticket), and sufficient funds. As of 2026-05-30 no electronic pre-authorisation is required. The EU's ETIAS travel authorisation is NOT yet in operation; the European Commission states it will launch in the last quarter of 2026. Once live, Korean travellers will need an ETIAS authorisation (EUR 20, valid up to 3 years) before boarding, but it remains optional/unavailable until then. For stays beyond 90 days, work, or study, a national long-stay visa from the Portuguese Embassy in Seoul is required instead.
