South Korea to Sri Lanka visa requirements

South Korean ordinary passport holders need a free Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to visit Sri Lanka for tourism. Since 25 May 2026, South Korea is one of 40 nationalities whose Tourist ETA fee is waived, but the ETA itself remains mandatory and must be obtained online before travel. It grants a 30-day stay with double entry. Sri Lanka does not grant unconditional visa-free entry to South Korean citizens. Instead, an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is required and must be approved before boarding. Following a Sri Lankan Parliament decision in May 2026, the Tourist ETA fee was waived for 40 nationalities, including South Korea, effective 25 May 2026. South Korean ordinary passport holders therefore pay no consular fee but must still complete the ETA application on the official portal (eta.gov.lk) prior to arrival. The Tourist ETA allows a stay of up to 30 days from the date of first arrival, with double (two) entries permitted within that period. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of arrival, and travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel and sufficient funds. Visa on arrival is technically available at Bandaranaike (CMB) airport but is not recommended because restricted-nationality handling, queues, and higher risk make a pre-approved ETA the standard, reliable channel. The verdict is "eta" because the trip requires a pre-travel electronic authorization even though no fee is charged for South Korean nationals.
