Japan to Uzbekistan visa requirements

No visa needed. Japanese ordinary passport holders can enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism. Japanese ordinary passport holders do not need a visa to visit Uzbekistan for tourism or short stays. Under a policy in effect since 10 February 2018 and still current as of 2026, Japan is one of the countries granted a 30-day visa-free regime, confirmed by Uzbekistan's official Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal (gov.uz). The 30-day period is counted from the moment of crossing the Uzbek border. The passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry, and travelers should carry proof of onward/return travel. Uzbekistan is NOT in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. The main post-arrival obligation is accommodation registration: foreigners must hold valid registration by the third business day of their stay. Hotels, hostels, and guesthouses register guests automatically, so most tourists do not need to take any action; only those in private (non-registered) accommodation must arrange registration themselves to avoid fines. If a stay longer than 30 days is needed, a visa must be obtained from an Uzbek diplomatic mission, or an e-Visa applied for in advance.
