Japan to Philippines visa requirements

Visa-free up to 30 days for tourism or business; free eTravel registration is required within 72 hours before arrival. Japanese ordinary passport holders may enter the Philippines without a visa for a stay not exceeding 30 days under the FSC-90-13 / E.O. 408 visa-free list, including tourism, business meetings, conferences, medical treatment, and personal visits. Travellers must hold a valid return or onward ticket; the standard passport rule is six months beyond the contemplated stay, but Japan is marked with an asterisk on the Embassy list, so BI Operations Order SBM-2015-026 allows admission with less than six months' passport validity when the passport is still valid and no other refusal ground applies. Airlines can still apply stricter document checks, so six months' validity remains the safer travel standard. All arriving foreign passengers must complete the official eTravel registration at etravel.gov.ph within 72 hours before arrival, free of charge, and show the QR code before boarding and on arrival. Visitors who want to stay beyond 30 days may apply at the Bureau of Immigration for an initial 29-day visa waiver extension and then monthly or two-month extensions, subject to fees and BI approval; long-stay visitor extensions can be limited by office and are not issued beyond 36 months for non-visa-required nationals. Paid work, long-term study, residence, volunteering, or activities outside temporary visitor purposes require the correct Philippine visa or authority.
