Japan to Niger visa requirements

Japanese ordinary passport holders need a visa to enter Niger for tourism. Niger is not visa-free for Japan. The recommended route is the official Niger e-Visa (operated by the Ministry of Interior / Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, DST), typically a single-entry stay of up to 30 days. A regular visa can also be obtained through the Niger honorary consulate in Tokyo. A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for entry. Niger requires Japanese citizens to obtain a visa before or at travel; Japan is not on Niger's visa-exempt list. Niger runs an official online e-Visa portal under the Ministry of Interior and Decentralization (Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, DST), which is the most practical channel for tourists and generally grants a single entry of up to 30 days. Travelers without internet access or needing longer/multiple-entry validity can apply for a regular visa at the Niger honorary consulate in Tokyo or another Nigerien diplomatic mission. A pre-approved "flyer" visa-on-arrival exists but requires advance authorization from the National Police and is intended for specific cases, so it is not the standard tourist channel. Important non-visa requirements: a passport valid at least six months, a yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory), and proof of accommodation and return travel. Note that many governments, including Japan's MOFA and the U.S. State Department, maintain severe travel advisories for Niger due to terrorism, kidnapping and a state of emergency in many regions, so travelers should verify safety conditions before booking. Because Niger is in West Africa (not the Schengen area), the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply. Conservatively, the verdict is "evisa": there is no visa-free or unconditional visa-free-on-arrival channel for Japanese tourists.
