Japan to Brunei visa requirements

Visa-free for up to 30 days. The waiver was extended from 14 to 30 days on 10 December 2024. Japanese ordinary passport holders can enter Brunei Darussalam without a visa for short-term tourist or business stays of up to 30 days. Following a note verbale exchanged between Brunei and Japan in March 2024, the visa-waiver period was extended from the previous 14 days to 30 days, commencing 10 December 2024 (a reciprocal arrangement, as Japan likewise extended its waiver for Brunei nationals to 30 days). Brunei is not part of the Schengen area, so no Schengen 90/180 rule or ETIAS applies. The Japanese passport should be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended stay, and travelers must hold a confirmed return or onward ticket and sufficient funds. There is no electronic travel authorization or pre-arrival application required for this 30-day visa-free entry.
