Italy to Thailand visa requirements

As of 2026-06-21, Italian ordinary passport holders can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days; a 30-day extension may be granted by Thai Immigration. Thailand has approved a rollback of the 60-day scheme, but it takes effect only after Royal Gazette publication plus 15 days. Italian ordinary passport holders are currently listed by Thai official sources under Thailand's 60-day visa exemption for tourism, business engagements, urgent work, or ad-hoc work. The stay can be extended once for another period not exceeding 30 days, solely at the discretion of Thai Immigration, with the standard extension application fee of THB 1,900. Travellers should carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, onward or return travel, accommodation details, and funds evidence; Italian official guidance cites THB 20,000 in cash per person or THB 40,000 per family as the border-check benchmark. All non-Thai arrivals must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 3 days before arrival. The visa exemption is not a general work or residence permission: ordinary employment, long stays, retirement, family residence, study, and most business assignments require the proper visa or work authorization. A 19 May 2026 Cabinet-approved revision would revoke the 60-day exemption scheme and replace it with shorter schemes after Interior Ministry notices are published in the Royal Gazette and 15 days pass; travellers with late-2026 trips should recheck before departure.
