Italy to Russian Federation visa requirements

Italian passport holders can visit Russia for tourism using the Russian unified electronic visa (e-visa). It is single-entry, valid for 120 days from issue, allows a maximum stay of 30 days, and costs about USD 52. There is no general visa-free entry for Italian citizens. As of 2026, ordinary Italian passport holders need a visa to enter Russia, but for short tourist visits the simplest route is the Russian unified electronic visa (e-visa). Italy is on the list of countries eligible for this e-visa, which is fully online and requires no invitation letter or hotel booking. The unified e-visa is single-entry, valid for 120 days from the date of issue (extended from 60 days in August 2025), and permits a stay of up to 30 days from the date of entry (extended from 16 days in the same 2025 update). The government fee is USD 52 (children under 6 are exempt), and applications are processed within 4 calendar days. Travelers must hold travel medical insurance meeting Russian requirements and a passport valid for at least 6 months. Applications must be submitted no earlier than 86 days and no later than 4 days before the planned entry. For stays longer than 30 days, multiple entries, or purposes outside the e-visa scope, a regular consular visa through the Russian embassy or a visa center is required. Russia is not in the Schengen area, so the Schengen 90/180 rule and ETIAS do not apply.
